Our Values

Ahimsa (ah-HIM-sah) is the first of the foundational yogic principles called Yamas and means non-harming towards all living beings. We take that to mean non-harming of Mother Earth and her creatures which is why we work for sustainability and equity for all beings.
We believe in ahimsa.

We Value Mental Health. We provide peer-led processing groups and mindfulness practices to support mental and physical awareness and sustainability, to inspire creative non-harming lifestyles that are considerate to self, the planet and one another. According to the American Psychological Association, chronic stress is linked to the six leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide.

We Value Community. We invite you to hold space for each other, build connections, grow together. We believe in yoga for nurturing the mind, body and spirit, not only to enhance connection to self but with each other. We encourage you to breathe and take some time out of a “busy” day for self care with your community.

We Value the Planet. In deepening awareness, this inspires non-harming lifestyle actions, considering your daily actions’ impact on the planet. Plus, we plant trees for folks’ participation! This is a valuable way of showing up for yourself and a neat way we offset our carbon footprint and honor Mother Earth together.

We acknowledge when we gather in Los Angeles, we do so with gratitude for and on the occupied territory of the Tongva People, who’ve stewarded this land for generations. The world’s indigenous population makes up just 5% of the global population yet protects 80% of global biodiversity.

Testimonials

Katie is a wonderful instructor for any level yogi. I started as a novice who hadn’t practiced in years, and Katie patiently worked with me through many sessions so that I’m now comfortable holding intermediate poses and flowing on my own. At the beginning of every session, she asks what you’d like to focus on, so each session is customized for your needs (or should I say, your intention?) Katie is a warm teacher who genuinely loves helping others. I am so thankful for her and our sessions together.

Katie is the living embodiment of the aphorism, “Yoga is for everyone.” Her Yoga is approachable, human, fallible, and open to suggestion. She’s a wonderful teacher who has not only spent the time learning the craft, but has lived, practiced, and preached its many teachings about kindness, humility, forgiveness, and emotional availability. Katie + Set Intentions doesn’t only want you to leave class feeling exercised, but to leave class feeling energized, thoughtful, connected, and understood.

I’ve gone to the Yoga classes on Friday and Sunday at Mosaic. Katie has helped me find alternative yoga positions to accommodate a knee replacement that I am still recovering from. Her meditation and breath exercises have helped my overall mood and mindset...Thank you!
